Accommodation

The festival will keep us busy most of the weekend, but you might just want to catch some sleep at some point. Especially for those who can't just pop off home easily we'll list a few suggestions for places to stay.

Hostels and B&B

A few hostels in Utrecht offer CaDansa visitors a discount. Both hostels are at about 4 km distance from the festival, so you'll have to arrange transport to and from the hostel by yourself. You could for instance rent a bike. You can find more information about the hostels and the discount offered here.

Utrecht also has quite a few Bed & Breakfasts. Click here for an overview.

Staying over

Of course the best - and cheapest - way to stay over is to stay with other CaDansa dancers from Utrecht. That's why we've set up a sleepover network. We hope that a lot of people from Utrecht and nearby regions are willing to host dancers. Also people who live further away but plan to travel by car and who have place to host dancers are encouraged to offer sleepover spots.

Underneath you can find who offer places to stay in the surroundings of the festival. If you have places to offer you can fill out this form. The festival organisation only offers the possibility to establish contact between people seeking a place to stay and those offering one; we are not responsible for the sleepovers themselves. Make sure you make clear appointments with your host.

If you can't find a place to stay this way you could always try the CouchSurfing network, of course.

Living situation/where will you sleep: I have an apartment with a separate living room. Guests will sleep in the living room.

What to bring: I can provide two sleeping bags and thermarest mattrasses. People that want more luxury and the third guest will have to bring something.

How to get to the ball from his/her house: Bike is easiest and fastest, but it should be possible to take a bus or even to walk. I don't have a car. I can rent a bike for you for 3 euros per 24 hrs. (OV-fiets)

Living situation/where will you sleep: We have an apartment (4th floor, no elevator) with a big living room where all guests will sleep. There's a convertible sofa (bunk) for 2 people, an air bed for 2 people, and we have some camping mattresses and sleeping bags, but not enough for 10 people. No pets or carpets, and as my boyfriend is slightly allergic to dust, we're pretty good at cleaning.

What to bring: Mattress, sleeping bag and pillow. If you're having trouble bringing stuff, let me know, because we have enough for some people, so not everyone needs to bring stuff, but some will. Towels aren't necessary.

How to get to the ball from his/her house: Best way is by bike, just over 5 minutes. On foot it's 20-30, depending on how fast you walk. By car is possible, though you'll have to drive twice the distance; we have free parking in front of the house.
As I will not be staying until very late, we will arrange small groups (2 or 3) to have keys to get back in.
I'll be home on friday, so arriving early is possible. If you want, you can even arrive thursday night.

Living situation/where will you sleep: I live in a small flat with only one room, but there's place for two people to sleep. We'll probably meet with Laurent a lot, to share dinner and aperitives. He's my neighbor and he'll also have guests for cadansa.

I plan to dance until the morning and sleep during the day, so I would prefer if my guests are not early birds either. If you want to stay a few days longer or come earlier, that is possible. I will take the monday free from my job.

What to bring: mattress, sleeping bag, croissant ou pain au chocolat... I have one sleeping bag and mattress which you can borrow, but not two.

Also bring a good jacket if you plan to go by bike to the festival location. November can be cold and rainy!

How to get to the ball from his/her house: My house is not very close to the festival location, approximately 20 minutes by bike. If you don't have a car, the most practical solution is to rent a public bike (www.ov-fiets.nl), they are not too expensive I believe.

Living situation/where will you sleep: I live in student apartment within 10 minutes walking distance of the festival. I've got a single room of about 25 square meters with plenty of floorspace available. There is room for about three people to sleep on the floor. The couch has already been claimed by another guest.

I've also got a separate bathroom, so you can take a shower or dress yourself with some privacy.

I've only got two keys for my room, so some planning will be necessary if people want to leave at different times, but shouldn't pose any problems I hope. I'm probably not going to dance all night, but I don't mind too much if other people arrive later if they can manage amongst themselves to do it somewhat quietly.

What to bring: I've got one extra mattress and blanket available . So one lucky person will not have to bring these. The other two will have to bring their own sleeping bag and sleeping mat. I've got plenty of towels, so it won't be necessary to bring your own.

How to get to the ball from his/her house: You walk out of the front door, turn left, then go straight ahead for about 10 minutes until you arrive at the ball. It's almost impossible to get lost.

I'll be a volunteering at the festival myself, so it is possible that I'll have to leave at a different time than my guests. But I'll make sure you'll find your way the first time.

Living situation/where will you sleep: Guests can sleep in our attic. There's quite a lot of stuff there, but we'll make sure to clean it properly before the festival so it won't be excessively dusty. It can get a little cold in the attic and since there are no curtains the morning light will probably wake you up quite early, but it's fine for young, sturdy people who don't require a lot of comfort. Breakfast will be served on Saturday and Sunday.

What to bring: Your own sleeping bag and bedroll, plus whatever you need to be comfortable (towels, toothbrush, etc).

How to get to the ball from his/her house: It's possible to go by bus, but coming back in the middle of the night can be problematic. Going by car or bike is ideal.

Living situation/where will you sleep: We live in a 2-room apartment. One 2-person inflatable bed will be placed in the living room, on which the guests can sleep. We have 5 pet rats (which live in a cage). Guests can stay from Friday 6:30 PM until Monday 8:00 AM. We do not have an extra set of keys, so we will have to make arrangements about when we leave.

What to bring: An inflatable bed with blankets and towels are provided (you can bring your own if you prefer), the guests will need to bring their own pillow. We do not have extra bikes for guests, so if they also want to go to the festival by bike they will have to bring/buy/rent/steal/build a bike.

How to get to the ball from his/her house: To get to the festival you can go by bike for ~10 minutes, or walk for ~25 minutes (you can take a bus for part of the way, but it doesn't go in the night). The route is very easy; just go around the corner to get to the main road, and keep going straight until you arrive at the festival location.

Living situation/where will you sleep: We are housemates, and we share a former monastry with about 16 lovely people and 2 cats! We have a spare room for 2 people (one bed, one matress on the ground) and sort of a spare/living-room . In this room we have 3 couches and there's enough space for a few matrasses. We have 2 showers and 2 kitchens!

Because we share our community with people who'd like to sleep at night, we're looking for very social, non-drunk people with the ability of being really, really quiet during the night and early morning!! :) We also have only one spare key so we prefer to host a group of friends who'll enter and leave the festival at the same time.

What to bring: We have one bed, three couches and about 5 matrasses. Bring your own pillow, sleeping bag, sheet and if there're a lot of guests we'll need some air matresses as well! Oh and bring some towels :)

How to get to the ball from his/her house: You can take the bus to the railway station and then switch to another bus or the train. The last trains and busses go around midnight, so it might be better to rent a bike! It takes max. 30 minutes to cycle to the festival! Going by car is possible but parking in the area is difficult/expensive.

Living situation/where will you sleep: I live by myself in a quiet neighborhood. I've got 4 guests so far, but room for two more. I'm putting one couple in a double bed and sleep with the rest in the livingroom. There will be a big breakfasttable and plenty to eat and drink. I do need to say I have two curious cats, but normaly they leave sleeping people alone. :+) I'm rebuilding the place, but it is dry, clean and everything is in function (power, water, heating, loo, shower, kitchen, roof, etc). :-)

What to bring: You'll need to bring an air bed and a sleeping bag. I have some extra pillows. If you are foreign, then local food is always appreciated. If not, then think of something else to contribute to the breakfesttable. :-)

How to get to the ball from his/her house: One of the guests has a car, so some of us can drive to the ball. I also have a bike that can carry one small/medium sized guest. :-) I have some extra doorkeys, so if you rent a bike you'll be free to go to the festival or to bed.

Living situation/where will you sleep: I'll be sleeping at my nieces place as she is living in a spacious place there is room for more than one guest. there are two rooms in wich the guests and I will sleep. so separation is possible. it might get a bit cold, cause there is no central heating, but there is one elektric heater. If there are multiple guest I might get a second heater so both rooms might be heated. smoking is not allowed inside the house. there is an alarm thats needs to be set and there is only one key, so if I leave the house I would like it if the guests would come with me. I will be there from friday afternoon till monday around 12 o clock. I'm sure we can separate the food expenses if we have a lot of them.

What to bring: you need to bring everything. matress and blanket or sleeping bag, not to forget your bycicle or car. this stuff just is not there. there are two couches but they are not sleeping couches and I haven't measured them.

How to get to the ball from his/her house: by car or by bicycle. I'm afraid that there won't be a lot of busses towards that place at night. it would be nice if we could be cycling together.

Living situation/where will you sleep: We have an apartment in Soesterberg. Not the closest, but it's comfortable. :) We have one spare matress and enough blankets and bedcovers. You'd be sleeping in our living room. There's plenty of parking space.
We might have a cat by that time, and I burn quite a lot of incense.

What to bring: Sleeping mat and sleeping bag could be handy, though we could provide for at least one person. Don't forget your toothbrush. ;)

How to get to the ball from his/her house: Preferably by car. Public transport is an option, but it's not ideal, especially not for those wanting to stay for the session. Unfortunately, we have no spare set of keys.

Living situation/where will you sleep: I live in a student room in a shared apartment with 3 other girls, of whom 2 are also balfolkies, yay! I already have one guest but there is still space for one more on my floor ;). I have no pets except for a lot of spiders and the occasional dust bunny: this is not a place for someone with allergies to dust (carpets everywhere)!

What to bring: your toothbrush, change of clothes and your own towel. I have an airbed, sleeping bag etc available for you. If you're a picky sleeper, bring your own pillow. It would also be very convenient if you could bring your own bike (or a car...), otherwise we'll think of something.

How to get to the ball from his/her house: Cycling; walking takes a bit long but it will get you there eventually. Depending on the other guest, we might try getting you there on the back of my bike.
